Engage the Enemy More Closely...
Type of Event:
Historical Miniatures

Event Description: Britain's ringing victory of the Napoleonic Wars at sea was the Battle of Trafalgar, fought off the southwest coast of Spain on October 21, 1805. Twenty-seven line-of-battle ships under the command of Admiral Lord Nelson decisively engaged and smashed a larger force of 33 French and Spanish ships under the command of France's Admiral de Villeneuve. It forever ended Napoleon's dream of an invasion of England and established the Royal Navy's near-monopoly on global sea-power for the next century. This game will be a decidedly lighter treatment of the battle using a modification of Kevin Dunn's 'Damn Monitors Again' tabletop naval rules. Beginners (and grognards looking for a break between heavier sessions) are encouraged to play.

Like most Sci-Fi Channel type scenarios, we've already made it ridiculous, so please ham it up as much as possible. * Like many recent Sci-Fi Channel movies, in this game you'll face not only normal B-movie opponents but also invasion by hordes of unlikely (and not terribly realistic) Giant Insects, in this case, it\'s Giant Ants! Up the Nile - 1890
Type of Event:
Hostorial Miniatures

Event Description: British intelligence was alarmed to discover a large number of German 'tourists' recently swarming around Cairo, all young, healthy males who appeared to be most uncomfortable in their civilian clothing. This at the same time that the city was awash with native rumours of a newly-discovered temple somewhere up the Nile containing some sort of magical jewel.

So when the German tourists boarded a rented steamer late one night and disappeared, there was nothing for it but to send someone to keep a watchful eye on Chancellor Bismarck's boyos.  Unfortunately, what with the increased Madhist activity of late, there weren't many soldiers available for nanny duty. Still, a small force has been dispatched upriver under the command of the intrepid explorer, Capt. Fitz-Percy, with orders to thwart the Teutonic treachery, whatever it may be.
